Meet Our Team! 

Dr. Tracy Lord D.V.M.

 

Dr. Lord completed her undergraduate studies at James Madison University and graduated from the Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. She first became interested in alternative medicine in veterinary school and began her integrative education during her fourth year rotations.

 

After beginning her career as a primary care veterinarian, Dr. Lord was certified in veterinary acupuncture through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society in 2000 and completed her initial Chinese herbal training through the same organization in 2001. In 2004, Dr. Lord furthered her training to become certified in animal chiropractic through the Healing Oasis Center. She is currently working towards obtaining a graduate diploma in Veterinary Chinese herbal medicine.

Dr. Lord has been working exclusively as a holistic veterinarian since 2001. She uses acupuncture, Chinese herbal remedies, spinal manipulation, nutrition, and other natural supplements in daily practice with the goal of improving the health and well being for her patients. Treatment protocols are patient specific, with an emphasis on quality of life. She opened Four Paws Veterinary Holistic Service in 2014.

 

Dr. Lord treats a wide variety of conditions, ranging from the healthy pet whose owners want a more natural approach to their pets’ veterinary care to chronically ill patients. She routinely works with performance and working dogs as well as patients with arthritis, skin conditions, chronic liver or kidney disease, cancer, asthma, neurologic problems, inflammatory bowel disease as well as a variety of other conditions.

 

Rufus R. Freighttrain Jones Lord

 

 

Rufus is our acting office manager, currently working remotely during COVID.

During his free time, Rufus enjoys napping, destroying his newest toys, and eating the best treats :) 

Rufus also enjoys going on nature walks with his mom! 

Jennifer

Jennifer began her career in veterinary medicine in 2007 as an assistant in primary care with a passion for holistic medicine. Over the years she has assisted Dr. Lord with many of her patients in other hospitals leading her to Four Paws Holistic in 2015. She has a special interest mycotherapy, holistic oncology, allergic diseases, and preventive nutrition.

 

Jennifer is also a professional fine artist and muralist serving the Richmond area and beyond. She frequently travels the country for clients and no project is too big for her to take on. Locally she provides a variety of services including pet portraits.

 

In her spare time, Jennifer loves traveling off the beaten path, organic gardening, and converting her school bus in to a tiny house with her 4 cats, numerous chickens, and her pibble Archer.

Lara joined our team in October 2016, coming to us with over 6 years of experience in the veterinary field and a lifetime of experience working with animals. Lara's love for pets started at a young age working in her family's boarding kennel and volunteering at local animal shelters. 

Since working with Dr. Lord, Lara has enjoyed seeing how a holistic approach and preventative care improves the lives of our patients and clients alike! 

In her spare time, Lara enjoys drinking good coffee, trying new recipes, crafting, and watching movies. Lara and her fiancé share their home with 2 cats, Oreo and Charley, and 2 dogs, Batty and Dixie. 

Rose

Rose began her veterinary medicine career in 2017, but has been working with animals of all kinds for most of her life. Animal sheltering and Fear Free practice is a passion of hers. Rose is pursuing her Masters Degree in Veterinary Medical Sciences with a concentration in Shelter Medicine at the University of Florida.

When she isn't at work, Rose enjoys LARPing with her friends, writing, volunteering in her community, and relaxing with her four cats (Pero, Daijoubu, Mollie, and Griffin), and her Great Pyr, Penny.

Jax

Jax joined our team in April 2022 with 5 years of experience in the veterinary field and a dream of becoming a veterinarian. He started working in the veterinary field during highschool and continued throughout his undergraduate career. Jax is very excited to learn more about the holistic side of veterinary care.

He will be with us through the end of July before he starts his first year as a DVM student at Virginia Maryland CVM. 

In his spare time, Jax enjoys going on adventures with his cat, Loki, and doing various art projects.
